How do you fold a GIS?
Two simple ways of folding your gi – just like the Japanese. Instructions:
- Put your folded pants over your open jacket.
- Fold the jacket sides over the pants, then fold back the sleeves.
- Roll up the jacket/pants from the bottom.
- Tie your belt around the gi sausage.
- Swing over your shoulder and travel the world!
How do you store your GI?
Here are six steps to help you keep your gi looking, feeling, and smelling as good as possible for as long as possible.
- Invest in a good gi.
- Air dry your gi after training.
- Check your gi for any stains or tears.
- Wash your gi in cold water.
- Don’t bleach your gi!
- Hang to dry.
How do you size a karate uniform?
In situations where your weight puts you in a larger uniform then your height, your pants are going to be too long and will need to be hemmed up. If your weight puts you in a smaller size than your height, you should order the size corresponding to your height, but you can expect it to fit a little loose.
How many degrees is Jiu Jitsu?

How do I shorten my karate belt?
To intentionally shrink your belt, soak it in cold water for a few minutes, then spin dry in your washer. Tumble dry for maximum shrinkage (up to 8%) or air dry and stretch for minimal shrinkage. Tip 004 – You can tie your belt by starting in the middle but it will have an uneven overlap in the back.
Do you iron your gi?
Ironing your BJJ GI If you like to iron your GI before class, then please do but do it on a low iron heat setting and with the GI inside out. Certain types of patches will melt or stick to a hot iron, so it is best to avoid them coming in to contact with the iron.
How do you keep your gi clean?
Always wash your gi in cold water, 90-100 degrees maximum. If your gi is a little bit too big and you actually want it to shrink a little bit (sleeves), you can wash it at 110-120 degrees, but NEVER over that temperature.
How do I make my gi softer?
Just hang dry it and throw it in the dryer on a low setting with fabric softener. You can also just toss it in high heat for 10-15 minutes and it should be the same. Either option will make the gi soft and shouldn’t shrink.
